Rescue workers are attempting to reach six mine workers trapped underground after an explosion in a coal mine in Guacheta in central Colombia. The escue team is trying to access the mine, which is blocked by debris. Accidents such as cave-ins and explosions are not uncommon at mining sites in Colombia, and often deadly, especially at mines that operate illegally and don’t take necessary safety precautions.
