"The regime in Iran will fall." These are the words of the son of the former shah of Iran speaking in Washington today. Reza Pahlavi was laying out his plans for an Iran without the regime in Tehran in power. Iran has seen weeks of anti-government protests that are undermining the regime. Pahlavi has spent decades living in exile in the US and he’s been putting himself forward as a uniting figure for Iran’s opposition.

Meanwhile, media reports say the United States is increasing its military presence in the Middle East by sending an aircraft carrier. The Pentagon has not confirmed the deployment.
