In a major blow to one of the Quebec government’s key regulations relating to immigration, the Supreme Court of Canada has upheld the right of asylum seekers to access subsidized daycare.
In an eight-to-one decision, the justices argued that denying parents the right to send their children to subsidized daycare is discriminatory – and violates the Charter of Rights.
This marks the third ruling against the Quebec government on the matter.
