Sydney shooting suspect charged with 15 counts of murder

From CBC News.

The surviving suspect in Sydney’s Bondi Beach mass shooting has been charged with 59 offences, including 15 counts of murder and one of committing a terrorist act, police said Wednesday.

Naveed Akram, 24, was critically injured during the incident and charged after emerging from a coma. His father Sajid Akram, 50, was shot dead by police at the scene. Fifteen people were killed and dozens injured in the antisemitic attack targeting Jews celebrating Hanukkah on Sunday.

The charges came as the first funerals for the victims took place under a heavy police presence near Bondi Beach.
