From Global News.
Though it wasn’t until the early 2000s that Swedish garage rock outfit The Hives hit the global mainstream, the quintet’s rock n’ roll journey began back in 1993 — when they were just schoolboys.
More than three decades on, and the ‘Hate to Say I Told You So’ hitmakers are back with a headlining North American tour in support of their critically-acclaimed 2025 studio album, ‘The Hives Forever Forever The Hives’.
In this exclusive interview, renowned, ball-of-energy frontman “Howlin’ Pelle” Almqvist takes Global News behind-the-scenes on the creation of their new record, some of the group’s beloved music videos, the history behind their iconic well-dressed look, and how the five members have stayed friends over the course of their storied career.
Prior to two back-to-back shows at HISTORY in Toronto on March 22 and 23, Almqvist shares some memories of touring Canada, including the opening night of their last North American tour, where the room-commanding singer tore his ACL in Ontario’s capital, and how he didn’t fully realize until after the fact.
