From AFP News Agency.
With its half-buried houses, built to resist Moldova’s cold winters and hot summers, the remote village of Rogojeni has become known as the “hobbit village”.
The traditional houses resemble the hobbit holes in “The Lord of the Rings”, and they have put the shrinking settlement on the tourist map.
Locals hope this may help to save the village and its cultural heritage, with only 30 people left in a hamlet that once had a population of 200.
