Trump says U.S. ‘not putting troops anywhere’ in Iran

President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi held a bilateral meeting in the White House Oval Office on Thursday. During a pool spray of the bilat, both leaders were asked about the war with Iran. President Trump said he was not putting troops on the ground and that he’s spoken to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about not attacking oil and gas fields. He also said that the U.S. is protecting the Strait of Hormuz “just to be nice” and hopes that Japan “steps up” in the Strait as they utilize it more than the U.S.
