U.S. President Donald Trump said on Thursday that the costs of in vitro fertilization (IVF) medications and treatment will be slashed.

Speaking at an Oval Office event, Trump said the move follows an agreement with Germany’s Merck KGaA U.S. unit EMD Serono to provide steep discounts on fertility drugs, including Gonal-f, Ovidrel and Cetrotide.

Merck said it would sell the medicines directly to consumers at significantly reduced prices in exchange for potential tariff relief tied to future U.S. manufacturing and research investments.

Trump also said the administration would expand access to insurance coverage for fertility care, allowing employers to offer a standalone fertility benefit.
