U.S. President Donald Trump appears to be wavering in his support for Ukraine as Russia’s war drags on, suggesting that Kyiv may have to give up territory if it wants an end to the more than three-and-a-half-year invasion.

Trump had earlier expressed a growing frustration with Russian President Vladimir Putin. But Trump’s latest comments, in an interview aired Sunday on Fox News, suggest another shift in his stance on how best to pursue peace.

Contrary to Kyiv’s hopes, Trump did not commit to providing Ukraine with Tomahawks following a meeting of the two leaders at the White House on Friday. The missiles would allow Ukraine to strike targets deep inside Russia — including Moscow — with precision.
