Tumbler Ridge mass shooting: RCMP provide update on investigation | LIVE

From Global News.

The RCMP are expected to provide an update Friday afternoon on the mass shooting that occurred in Tumbler Ridge, B.C., earlier this week.

Nine people — including the suspect — died in Tuesday’s mass shooting. RCMP identified the suspect of the shooting at a Tumbler Ridge school as an 18-year-old female, Jesse Van Rootselaar.

RCMP Deputy Commissioner Dwayne McDonald said Jesse was also found dead from self-inflicted gunshot wounds at the school.

Two firearms — a long gun and a modified handgun – were recovered by responding officers from the site, and the suspect is believed to have acted alone.

McDonald said the suspect’s mother and stepbrother were also found dead at home. He added that the suspect was born a biological male and about six years ago began to transition to female.
