Tumbler Ridge school shooting: “Time for all Canadians to unite,” Poilievre says

From Global News.

Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre offered sympathies for British Columbia’s Tumbler Ridge community on Wednesday, after a fatal shooting at a secondary school left at least 10 dead and dozens others injured.

“We are very much devastated by the news of this appalling shooting,” Poilievre told reporters on Parliament Hill. “I can’t even imagine the phone calls that parents might have received. I can imagine the heartache and hell that they’re living through at this moment,” he added.

The victims were students at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School, between Grade 7 and 12, RCMP say. And an individual believed to be the shooter was also found dead with what appears to be a self inflicted injury.

Poilievre vowed to get in touch with Prime Minister Mark Carney, and other federal parties, to “offer all of our support” and to “work together and help the community in any way we can.”
