Nearly four years after the start of the war with Russia, Ukrainian youth are trying, amid trauma and loneliness, to live a normal life. Isolation is felt more acutely near the front, as in Kharkiv. At the height of the fighting, 70% of its children were evacuated, either abroad or to the western part of the country. But in recent months, the presence of "one of the safest" underground schools in Ukraine, has encouraged some families to return to Kharkiv, just 40 kilometers from the Russian border.
