The head of the UN’s maritime body calls for de-escalation in the Middle East, saying shipping should not be used as "collateral damage" in the conflict. Speaking at a press conference at the end of an emergency meeting focused on the Strait of Hormuz, the IMO’s Arsenio Dominguez adds that the naval escorts of merchant ships stuck in the strait is not a "long-term, sustainable solution – because ships can still be targeted, there’s still a risk there."
