From Global News.
Early Saturday morning, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed on X the U.S. Coast Guard had intercepted an oil tanker that had last docked in Venezuela. This marks the second interception in recent weeks that the United States has gone after a tanker near Venezuela.
"The United States will continue to pursue the illicit movement of sanctioned oil that is used to fund narco-terrorism in the region," Noem said in the statement. "We will find you, and we will stop you."
The Maduro-led Venezuelan government called the tanker interception a "serious act of international piracy."
According to Reuters, U.S. Coast Guard officials said they are pursuing a third oil tanker in the region that is alleged to be "flying a false flag and under a judicial seizure order."
