The European Union is warning it could act after the United States imposed travel bans on five Europeans it accuses of pushing a campaign of censorship against Americans.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio characterized the five people, who include the leaders of organizations that address digital hate and a former EU commissioner, as “radical” activists and “weaponized” non-governmental organizations that have tried to “coerce American (tech) platforms to punish American viewpoints they oppose.”

Brussels says the move is unjustified and undermines shared democratic values.
