President Donald Trump’s nominee for U.S. surgeon general, Casey Means, backed his administration’s focus on the view that vaccines and other medicines, including birth control, should be given after discussions with doctors.
She sidestepped questions in her confirmation hearing about studying the abortion pill mifepristone, RSV vaccines for babies and cautiously addressed debunked links between vaccines and autism promoted by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., a longtime anti-vaccine activist.
