WATCH: Trump announces plan for new Navy ‘battleships’ bearing his name

From PBS NewsHour.

President Donald Trump announced a plan Monday for new warships that will be part of a broader goal for the U.S. Navy to create a “Golden Fleet” of up to 25 vessels.

Speaking from his Mar-a-Lago estate, Trump made the announcement next to renderings of these planned “battleships” that label them as “Trump class” vessels. The president said these warships have been under consideration since his first term.

“They’ll be the fastest, the biggest, and by far — 100x more powerful than any battleship ever built,” Trump said.

The president was flanked by national security officials, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
