From DW News.
Pakistan is ramping up deportations targeting the over 700,000 Afghans who fled there, following the Taliban’s return to power in 2021. Many refugees are afraid to return to Afghanistan, especially those who worked for the Western alliance that pushed the Taliban out of power more than 20 years ago. DW spoke to several Afghans as they prepared for a flight to Germany, which agreed to take in 160 asylum seekers last week – and also with those who still don’t know if they will ever find a safe place to live.
