The Australian police have reported that 12 people were killed and 29 others were hospitalized in a mass shooting in Sydney. One of the suspected gunmen has been killed. The shooting occurred at Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach, which is usually crowded with locals and tourists on summer weekends.
According to officials, the shooting targeted the local Jewish community that had gathered to celebrate the Festival of Lights. The Australian Jewish Association called the shooting a tragedy, but one that was entirely foreseeable.
