What Really Happens When a Black Hole Dies?

From StarTalk.

In this conversation, Neil deGrasse Tyson explains to Chuck Nice why lunar eclipses don’t occur every month — the Moon’s orbit is tilted relative to Earth’s orbital plane (the ecliptic), so perfect alignment with the Sun is rare. The discussion then shifts to black holes: Neil describes how they evaporate through Hawking radiation, ending in a burst of gamma rays before vanishing completely. He also addresses whether dark energy could result from an external universe’s gravitational pull, concluding that dark energy is more likely a property of space itself, growing stronger as the universe expands.
