Prominent US activist Nekima Levy Armstrong was arrested on January 22, 2026 for leading a protest during a church service in Saint Paul, Minnesota, the twin city to Minneapolis where outrage against a heavy federal immigration police presence has been growing.
The same day, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem posted a photo in which Levy Armstrong appears calm and expressionless as she is arrested.
Thirty minutes later the White House published a version of the same photo, altered to add tears and with a text calling Levy Armstrong a "far-left agitator" and no mention of the modification.
