Why is the US at war with Iran? Trump points to regime threats, but Iranian leader disputes claims

Hours after US President Donald Trump pointed to nuclear weapons and and ballistic weapons in Iran as a "collosal threat" on March 2, Iran’s Ambassador to the U.N., Amir-Saeid Iravani disputed the claims.

"Let’s make no mistake, there was no imminent threat from Iran. Our nuclear program is exclusively peaceful. We will engage in serious diplomatic negotiations. For the second time, the United States chose force over diplomacy and violated the charter."
