With one day to go until the opening ceremony of the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics, some official competition is already underway with curling kicking off and the U.S. women’s hockey team set to launch its quest for gold. Heavy snow caused race officials to cancel a training run for women’s downhill which would have been Lindsey Vonn’s first chance to test her injured knee. Figure skating power couple Madison Chock and Evan Bates will be the first U.S. skaters to take to the ice in team competition on Friday. NBC’s Stephanie Gosk reports for TODAY.
