Research team from Kyoto Univiersity collaborates with tech ventures Teraverse and XNOVA to unveil ‘the Buddharoid’ at the Shoren-in temple. The robot monk operates on BuddhaBot-Plus, a specialized generative AI derived from OpenAI’s ChatGPT that has been trained extensively on sacred Buddhist scriptures. Buddharoid’s hardware is developed by China’s Unitree Robotics.
