Comedian Nasser Al-Reyess was visiting Dubai when he heard the news that Americans were urged to leave the Middle East immediately. He says he called the State Department’s 24/7 hotline for assistance, but reached an automated message stating there are “currently no United States evacuation points.”
Stranded passengers are starting to leave the Middle East as airlines schedule new services and governments rally charter flights. But many remain stuck, with travel options limited.
The first US evacuation flight left the Middle East after the Trump administration faced backlash for not having an evacuation plan ready. More than 17,500 US citizens have returned home from the Middle East since February 28.
