Newly released photographs are shedding light on a little known but critical moment in Neil Armstrong’s career, years before he became the first person to walk on the moon. The images capture the aftermath of the Gemini 8 (VIII) mission in 1966, a flight that nearly ended in disaster but helped pave the way for the Apollo moon landings.
