From Global News.
In late July, some of Canada’s most striking, young indigenous women will gather in Brantford, Ont., for the second Miss Indigenous Canada competition.
It’s a contest that goes well beyond beauty, with many contestants using the platform to put their causes in the spotlight.
In 2024, the inaugural Miss Indigenous Canada was held on Six Nations of the Grand River in Southern Ontario with Manitoba’s Jessica McKenzie of Opaskwayak Cree Nation being crowned the winner.
This month, a new queen will be crowned and as Global’s Melissa Ridgen reports, two contestants will compete to keep the title in Manitoba.
