Minnesota church shooter identified as 23-year-old, 2 children ages 8 and 10 killed

From Global News.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara identified the gunman who opened fire at a Catholic school mass on Wednesday as 23-year-old Robin Westman.

Two children, aged 8 and 10, were killed in the attack, while 14 were injured along with three adult parishioners. The gunman died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, O’Hara said.

Meanwhile, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey called for action on gun violence Wednesday following the tragedy and said community leaders need to do “a whole lot more” to end gun violence in American cities.

Matt DeBoer, Annunciation Catholic School principal, praised the “heroic” actions of teachers during the attack. He said the death toll could have been worse had teachers and older students not stepped in to “protect” the younger children.
