A tropical paradise turned nuclear graveyard | DW Documentary

From DW Documentary.

The United States tested dozens of atomic and hydrogen bombs on the Marshall Islands in the 1940s and 1950s. The fallout reshaped entire atolls — and the lives of the people who called them home. On Runit Island, radioactive waste was sealed beneath a concrete dome, which has become one of the world’s most vulnerable nuclear sites. Rising sea levels, tropical storms, and cracks in the dome threaten to release its nuclear legacy into the Pacific Ocean.
