Homeless encampment treehouse drawing attention in Vernon, BC

A homeless encampment treehouse in Vernon, B.C., is garnering a lot of attention, as it perches high on the side of Highway 97. Many have questions about how safe it is and who is responsible for making sure it’s torn down.

Local residents are divided on its removal.

‘I’m a taxpayer, so I totally disagree with them having to live there with no repercussion," one said. "Unless it becomes a problem, I think it’s no harm, it’s just someone trying to make it through the day," another said.

As Klaudia Van Emmerik reports, because the land belongs to the province, the City saying it’s up to them to make a decision on its removal.
