Beyond the environmental protection of forests, ancient knowledge is also being kept alive. Maria Garcia’s fight is a part of this struggle. The land is home to medicinal plants and traditional Maya healing practices have been passed down for generations.

Education and preservation go hand in hand. While Maria protects these sacred lands, young Maya like Frank Tzib are revitalizing and teaching the ancient writing system, ensuring their language, culture, and history are never forgotten.
