Hundreds of people gathered in Greenland’s capital of Nuuk on Wednesday to hear the Danish prime minister formally apologize for her country’s role in a decades-long practice of placing invasive contraceptives in Greenlandic women and girls without their knowledge or consent.
The practice began in the 1960s and continued into the ’90s.
