A massive fire erupted at Chevron’s El Segundo refinery, one of the largest on the U.S. West Coast, on Thursday. 
 
"I thought we were actually having the start of an earthquake. And it was pretty scary," said local resident and eyewitness, Tamara Smith. "One of the employees from the refinery… he panicked that he literally took off from the refinery and just ran down the street."
 
"We just see this big explosion, and then we see all the fire just rising up, and it was just like a crazy sight to see," said another eyewitness.
 
Local authorities responded to reports of an explosion, but the cause of the fire is still unclear.
