Drones penetrated German airspace overnight Thursday. Many European leaders suspect Russia is responsible, though the Kremlin denies it.

French President Emmanuel Macron claimed 30 to 40 per cent of Russia’s war is financed through the revenues of its shadow fleet.

The vessels belong to Russia’s fleet of ageing tankers that sail under the flag of another country in order to avoid sanctions on exports of crude oil.

Europe is also looking at a way to limit Russia’s ability to evade sanctions.
