Former FBI Director James Comey pleaded not guilty Wednesday to criminal charges that were demanded by President Donald Trump and secured by one of his former personal lawyers, who has never prosecuted a case before.
Comey pleaded not guilty to both counts in a federal indictment related to his testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee in 2020 — one count of making a false statement to Congress and one count of obstructing a congressional proceeding.
