The appeal trial for the crash of flight AF447 from Rio de Janeiro to Paris is set to begin in the French capital and last for two months. Air France and Airbus, which were acquitted in the first trial, are being tried for manslaughter in connection with the disaster that claimed the lives of 228 people of 33 different nationalities on 1 June 2009.
