Australian independent federal MP Bob Katter threatened to attack a journalist and repeatedly called him racist for mentioning his Lebanese ancestry. The 80-year-old lawmaker, who is Australia’s longest-serving MP, is known for his eccentric behavior. During a 2017 press conference, Katter claimed that he was too preoccupied with deadly crocodile attacks in his home district to discuss same-sex marriage. Journalist Josh Bavas and his employer, 9News, deny that Bavas’s question was racist and have demanded an apology from Katter.
