BC coroners’ “virtual” visits under scrutiny after delayed discovery of 2 women’s bodies

From Global News.

Questions are being raised about the practice of coroners remotely attending scenes of death in B.C. after the bodies of a teen and a woman went undetected inside a Vancouver apartment for months.

In February 2022, Jimmy Van Chung Pham was found dead inside a Downtown Eastside SRO, but the bodies of teenager Noelle O’Soup and a woman called Elma Enan, were only located months later in the tiny room.

As Travis Prasad reports, police missed the bodies, but so did the coroner assigned to the case because they never saw the scene.
