The Cadillac Celestiq is an incredibly ambitious effort from Cadillac, entering the realm of ultra-luxury automakers deep into six figures (starts at around $350k). So what is the Celestiq, and what’s so special about it? In this video, we’ll deep dive into the engineering involved behind this machine, and focus on six techniques of low-volume production, to learn about how the vehicle is made. We’ll cover the body in white & casting process, the battery, 3D printing, the flex fab, the use of carbon fiber, the unique paint requirements enabling long range radar behind painted body panels.
We’ll also discuss what it’s like to drive, the complex and incredibly compliant suspension – featuring air suspension, magneride, and a first for Cadillac: active roll control. This is a highly unique build from Cadillac, and the engineering is a fascinating story.
