DC’s mayor apologizes to migrants ‘living in this terror’

From Reuters.

DC Mayor Muriel Bowser said migrant workers in Washington might feel like they’re being "caught up in a dragnet," as a spate of social media videos showed migrant workers on mopeds being stopped and detained by ICE agents during Trump’s federal-policing surge on the nation’s capital. "That is horrible," she said.

The federal crackdown has included ramped-up stop-and-frisk operations, federal patrols in residential neighborhoods and reports of people being stopped with little explanation.

The partnership between local and federal law enforcement has been tense at times, with federal agents not only targeting violent crime but also prioritizing immigration arrests and clearing homeless encampments.
