EXCLUSIVE: Latin Grammy star quits music to run for Congress as Texas Democrat

From MSNBC.

Tejano music star Bobby Pulido is trading a 30-year career on stage for a run at Congress. The Grammy-winning singer has entered the race as a Democrat in Texas’s 15th district, aiming to unseat Republican Rep. Monica De La Cruz in one of the state’s most hotly contested battlegrounds. In an exclusive interview with MSNBC’s Rosa Flores, Pulido said his decision is about securing his children’s future and “fighting for the little guy.” He added that while “Republicans can gerrymander the state, they can’t gerrymander Tejano culture.” The conversation took place at a ranch in DeWitt County, where Pulido competed in a long rifle shooting contest, a nod to his rural upbringing. “I’m at heart a country boy… I don’t have to fake anything. I really do represent the values of the district,” he said.
