Prime Minister Mark Carney has arrived in Europe. Carney will spend the next few days meeting with political leaders to discuss securing a ceasefire for Ukraine. He’s also shoring up economic alliances in the face of U.S. President Donald Trump’s trade war. The trip includes stops in Germany and Poland. Global News’ David Akin is travelling with the prime minister and has more on his agenda.
Carney’s trip comes one day after he agreed to drop retaliatory tariffs covered by CUSMA (the North American Free Trade Agreement). Former deputy prime minister John Manley joins Jeff Semple to discuss the move.
This weekend, Ukrainians around the world are marking the annual celebration of the country’s independence from the Soviet Union 34 years ago. Nathaniel Dove has more from an event in Toronto.
