The focus of Canada’s wildfire emergency has shifted north, with a second community in the Northwest Territories forced to evacuate. Residents of Fort Providence, located southwest of Yellowknife, were ordered to flee this morning after a wildfire grew to within two kilometres of the community. Global News meteorologist Yvonne Schalle joins with more on what to expect as strong winds are also forecast to affect the fires.

Despite years of deadly border clashes, the leaders of India and China appear to be resetting relations. Narendra Modi and Xi Jinping met at a regional summit in China on Sunday to bolster cooperation and potentially rebalance international relations. Russian President Vladimir Putin was also at the summit. As Mackenzie Gray explains, it’s a meeting Western countries like Canada and the U.S. are watching closely.

In the U.S., President Donald Trump prepares to expand his aggressive crackdown on crime. After deploying the National Guard in Washington, D.C., three weeks ago, he strongly hinted that he would deploy troops to Chicago. This move is intensifying a political standoff between Trump and Democrats in Illinois. Candice Cole explains.
