Legacy automotive companies are having a really hard time keeping up with the tsunami of technological innovation and costs savings coming from China’s electric vehicle industry. FORD is no exception. It’s current offerings are still essentially based on an internal combustion engine framework. That makes them expensive and uncompetitive. So, CEO Jim Farley has just thrown the century old Ford production philosophy in the trash and told his engineers to start with a clean sheet of paper. A stroke of genius or a final desperate act of madness?
