Israel has Trump’s backing to ‘finish the job’ if Hamas refuses offer | DW News

From DW News.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says he supports a peace plan for Gaza proposed by the US and President Donald Trump, and with the apparent backing of a number of Arab and Muslim-majority countries. Egypt, Pakistan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia were among those who applauded the US proposal in a joint statement. The plan includes the return of Israeli hostages and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. Germany’s Chancellor Friedrich Merz called the plan the "best chance" to end the war in Gaza as he met with relatives of German-Israeli hostages held by the militant group, Hamas. The group was not involved in drawing up the plan — which calls for it to disarm. With insights and analysis from DW correspondent Tania Kraemer, geopolitical analyst Kristina Kausch of the German Marshall Fund, and from Middle East expert Laura Blumenfeld from John Hopkins School for Advanced International Studies, who called the plan a ‘breakthrough for Israel."
