Kenyan activist running for president | DW News

From DW News.

Kenya’s elections are only in 2027, but several people have already announced that they’re running for president. Among them rights activist Boniface Mwangi, who is one of many rights activists and younger people who want to organize politically and run for both local and national positions.

This comes after thousands of mainly young Kenyans took to the streets in the so-called GenZ protests, calling for good governance and an end to police violence. As a result of the harsh crackdown on the protests over 100 people lost their lives.
