Three people are in critical condition after a medical helicopter crashed on a highway in Sacramento, Calif. Monday night, according to the Sacramento Fire Department.

One of the victims was trapped underneath the crashed upside-down helicopter and was rescued with the help of police and bystanders.

"It’s wild to see a helicopter crash on the US 50 (highway)," an onlooker said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
