Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank welcomed Britain’s recognition of a Palestinian state, which Canada, Australia and Portugal recognized as well over the weekend.
 
France and five other states are expected to also formally do so at the meeting ahead of the United Nations General Assembly. While the majority of European countries now recognize a Palestinian state, both Germany and Italy have signaled they are unlikely to make such a move soon.
