From Global News.
Speaking out on the recent burning of a church in Alberta and the violent attack on another in Michigan on Sunday, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre suggested Monday that “Christians may be the number one group that (are) victims of hate-based violence.”
Poilievre quickly followed up his remark with another, noting, “but of course, it’s not politically correct to say that.”
Backing his statement, the Conservative leader referred to “100 terrorist attacks against Canadian churches,” but listed no further examples. He went on to blame the federal Liberal government for reducing criminal penalties for arson.
Poilievre said a Conservative government would “crack down on hate crime” with tougher laws, concluding that “Canadians of all faiths, including Christians, deserve to worship in peace.”
