From Global News.
At least 17 people have died and dozens of others are injured after a series of Russian drone and missile strikes in Kyiv.
The attack on the Ukrainian capital struck roughly 20 locations in seven different districts – even damaging the European Union’s (EU) Ukraine Delegation and essential Innercity trains.
This was the first major Russian combined offensive in weeks since U.S. President Donald Trump met both the Russian and Ukrainian presidents earlier in the month to discuss ending the neighbours’ three-year war.
“This is another grim reminder of what is at stake,” European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen said Thursday, who was “outraged” by the attacks.
“It shows that the Kremlin will stop at nothing to terrorize Ukraine, blindly killing civilians: men, women, and children, and even targeting the European Union,” Von Der Leyen added.
Despite the overnight onslaught, the Kremlin says it remains interested in pursuing negotiations with Ukraine “in order to achieve our goals through political and diplomatic means.”
